Sassuolo and Italy midfielder Manuel Locatelli undergoes medical at Juventus

The midfielder of Sassuolo and the Italian national team, Nanuel Locatelli, arrived at Juventus on Wednesday to undergo a medical examination ahead of his long-awaited transfer to the Serie A club for 3 years.

The 23-year-old impressed at Euro 2020 as the Azzurri claimed the European crown, scoring twice in a group stage win over Switzerland. Locatelli joined Sassuolo from AC Milan in 2018 and has since developed into one of Serie A’s top midfielders, favours a move to Turin.

Locatelli scored two impressive goals against Switzerland in the group stage, before coming on in the final against England. Locatelli was heavily linked with Arsenal in the weeks that followed, although the Gunners couldn’t get a deal over the line. They were rivalling Juventus for his signature and it seems the Bianconeri have won the race.

Meanwhile, Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia both confirm that Sassuolo will also retain a percentage of any future transfer if Juventus sell Locatelli on, somewhere between 10-20 per cent.

Teammate Filip Djuricic said goodbye to Locatelli via Instagram, wishing him “all the best for your new adventure and your future!”
