Rabada and Nortje great assets to have: says Rishabh Pant after DC beat SRH in Dubai

Rishabh Pant was a happy captain as Delhi Capitals scored a clinical 8-wickets victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad to resume their 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign in Dubai on Wednesday.

Chasing 135 for a win, DC gunned down the target in 17.5 overs after riding on useful contributions from Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan and Pant to reclaim the top spot in IPL 2021.

“Very happy with this performance. We discussed that we had a good first phase, and we are happy to start the second phase this way. We said the same thing about focusing on the process and giving it 100% every day,” Pant said after the match.

DC bowlers were the main architects of the win, particularly the South African combo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, who rattled the SRH batsmen with their pace in the opening spells after being asked to field first by Kane Williamson.

Rabada bagged 3 for 37 from 4 overs while Nortje and left-arm spinner Axar Patel bagged a couple of wickets each as DC restricted SRH to 134 for 9 in 20 overs.

“It’s a good bowling performance because we thought 150-160 would have been a good total, so 130-something was a good score to restrict them to. We have one of the quickest bowlers in the world so I think they’re great assets to have,” Pant added.

Delhi Capitals will next face the Rajasthan Royals at the Zyed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi in the first game of the double-header on September 25 while last-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are all but out of contention for the playoffs race, will take on 7th-placed Punjab Kings in Sharjah in the second match on Saturday.
