IPL: Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Kane Williamson hopeful of a turnaround in 2nd leg

Sunrisers Hyderabad are at the bottom of the points table with their only win in seven matches, but captain Kane Williamson hopes his team will recover in the second match of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting on Sunday in the UAE.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will play their first game against table-topper Delhi Capitals on September 22.

Kane Williamson is expecting some good contributions from the players in different roles in the second leg of the IPL.

“I suppose individuals had all different sets of expectations of what they wanted to do. And it was nice to spend some time in the middle. We saw a lot of really good contributions (in practice matches) from a number of guys in different roles, which is good to see, Williamson said in a video posted by Sunrisers Hyderabad on Twitter.

Sunrisers Hyderabad mentor VVS Laxman wore a confident look after the practice session as players are shaping up well for the first game against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday.

“We got another practice game on 19th and I am sure it will be much better and so the practice sessions have been purposeful and meaningful. Overall, I think the boys are shaping well for the first game on September 22, ”said team mentor Laxman.

Sunrisers Hyderabad spinner Rashid Khan has said the side will be treating every game in the UAE-leg of the IPL 2021 as their final match to reach the top four.

Sunrisers Hyderabad have brought Sherfane Rutherford on board as a replacement for England wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow. The West Indian, who has played 7 IPL games, had earlier been part of the Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians.
