IPL: Virat Kohli joins RCB squad after completing quarantine in Dubai
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli has joined the RCB squad for training ahead of the second stage of the 2021 Indian Premier League after completing his quarantine in Dubai.
“Bold Diaries: Virat Kohli joins the RCB team after quarantine. There were smiles, hugs and laughter in the RCB camp as captain Virat Kohli, Mohammed Siraj and some of our foreign players had their first hit in the nets,” RCB tweeted a video where captain Kohli was witnessed have a hit at training with other foreign recruits.
Kohli, Siraj and a few other foreign players completed their quarantine and trained in the nets ahead of IPL 2021 resumption.
Kohli and Siraj had landed in Dubai on Sunday ahead of the second leg of IPL 2021. Kohli and Siraj left the UK after the fifth and the final Test between India and England at Old Trafford in Manchester was canceled due to a Covid outbreak in the Indian camp. However, all the players had returned negative tests.
Bangalore were ranked third on the points table behind Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings before the IPL 2021 was postponed after several positive Covid cases were reported inside the bio-secure bubble. The tournament was then moved out of India as the BCCI decided that the remainder of the T20 league will be played in the UAE.
On Tuesday, the franchise announced that RCB players will wear blue jerseys to show solidarity and support to the frontline workers. RCB will begin their UAE leg of the tournament against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on September 20.
