Dwayne Bravo named 2nd cricket player to play 500 T20 matches

All-rounder Dwayne Bravo on Wednesday became only the second cricketer after West Indies teammate Kieron Pollard to play 500 T20 matches.

Bravo reached the milestone during the final of the Carribean Premier League (CPL). The 37-year-old is the captain of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL.

Dwayne Bravo will fly to Dubai after the CPL final to play for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL), starting from September 19.

CSK will be up against defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 19.

Bravo is also an integral part of West Indies’ power-packed T20 side, who will be looking to win their third T20 World Cup later this year.

West Indies, who are in Group 1, which also includes Australia and South Africa, take on England in their opening match of the tournament on October 23 in Dubai.

Dwayne Bravo, has sustained a groin injury during St Kitts & Nevis Patriots’ clash against St Lucia Kings on September 4, however, was cleared for selection. Bravo had come out of T20I retirement in December 2019 to reunite with captain Kieron Pollard in the hunt for another world title.

West Indies has also recalled experienced pace bowler Ravi Rampaul to the team for the first time in six years the T20 World Cup. Rampaul, a member of the 2012 World Cup winning squad, played his last T20 match against Sri Lanka in 2015 and returns to bolster a solid looking lineup that will look to deliver an unprecedented third title for a single team.
