It will be cool to walk there with Virat Kohli at the WTC finals, we know each other pretty well-Kane Williamson

Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson have come a long way since they faced each other as captains of their respective teams during the 2008 U-19 World Cup.

The two have a lot in common. Both are modern day greats, their captaincy good and are role models for their teammates. Not to forget, the swashbuckling right-handers value Test cricket. Great things happen to great and hardworking people and as destiny has it, Kohli and Williamson are all set to lead India and New Zealand in the final of inaugural World Test Championship.

In 2019, they met in the semi-final of World Cup. Williamson’s team got lucky and won the match which was played over two days. The Kiwi has utmost respect for his rival and he is ready to add another chapter to that rivalry.

Kane Williamson has said thatwalking out with Virat Kohli for the toss at the WTC final will be “quite cool”.

“Yeah, hard case. Over the years, we have played against each other in so many different levels and competitions and have known each other fairly well. So, it will be quite cool walking out there, doing the toss and having a bit of contact in the first Test Championship Final,” Williamson said.

The two captains share a cordial relationship off the field and were famously seen sitting behind the boundary ropes and chatting during a match in 2020. What won hearts was that Kohli and Williamson were not playing that match but were at the boundary ropes to fulfill their duty of carrying drinks for their players.

The summit clash is scheduled to start from June 18 in Southampton. New Zealand are playing 2-Test series versus England ahead of it.
