Chennai Super Kings stars Jadeja, Pujara, Moeen Ali and Shardul reach Dubai for IPL 2021
The Chennai Super Kings received a significant boost on Saturday night when superstar players Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Moeen Ali and Cheteshwar Pujara landed in Dubai ahead of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Jadeja, Shardul, Pujara and Moeen were playing in the India-England series which ended prematurely in Manchester after the fifth and final Test got cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak in Virat Kohli’s squad.
CSK’s social media handles posted pictures of the quartet arriving in the team hotel in Dubai.
“En-coming! 4 times the joy today at Whistles Kingdom!” CSK tweeted.
The Indian trio showed good form in England with Pujara ending up as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the series while Jadeja and Shardul also chipped in with a few crucial knocks in the four Tests.
Pujara hit 227 runs at 32.42, Jadeja made 160 runs including a fifty while Shardul scored 117 runs in two Tests at 39.00 with two half-centuries to help India win two games in the five-match series.
Moeen meanwhile, flopped with the bat but did manage to pick 6 wickets from the 3 Tests he played against India. The all-rounder is one of 10 England players who will be featuring in the tournament in UAE.
The quartet arrived in Dubai a few days ahead of schedule as a result of the postponed Manchester Test and will now quarantine for 6 days before joining the CSK squad.
Three-time winners Chennai Super Kings and defending champions Mumbai Indians will kick-start the second half of IPL 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium on September 19.
IPL 2021 was initially postponed indefinitely after just 29 matches in May due to the second wave of Covid-19 in India.
But the Indian cricket board (BCCI) was able to find out a window to slot in the remaining 31 games to complete the season and thus, decided to take the tournament to the UAE where it will be played from September 19 to October 15 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Oman.
