Ravindra Jadeja grabs the 50th test wicket against England to achieve rare feat

Ravindra Jadeja added another feather to his cap on Monday, becoming the fourth Indian all-rounder to achieve a rare double in 50 wickets and 500 runs against England in tests during the ongoing fourth match at the Oval.

Jadeja was expected to make a big impact on Day 5 and that is exactly what he did by grabbing the crucial wickets of Haseeb Hameed and Moeen Ali to join Vinoo Mankad, Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin in an exclusive list of Indian cricketers.

Kapil Dev heads the Indian list with 85 wickets and 1355 runs against England followed by Vinoo Mankad (54 wickets, 618 runs) and Ravichandran Ashwin (88 wickets, 970 runs). Jadeja currently has 51 wickets and scored 672 runs against England in the longest format.

Ruthless India close in on victory

Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja combined to wreck England’s batting order and put India firmly on course for victory in the first two sessions on the final day.

Chasing a record victory target of 368, England were 100 for no loss early on the final day but the wheels came off for the hosts in the second session when they lost six wickets to stumble to 193-8 at tea.

Jadeja, Bumrah and Shardul Thakur bagged a couple of wickets each while Umesh Yadav got Chris Woakes out for 18 on the stroke of the interval, leaving Craig Overton on five and England still 175 runs behind.
