Injury to Manchester United winger Amad Diallo provoked a move to Feyenoord

Ivory Coast striker Amad Diallo will remain at United this window after suffering a hip injury in training that will prevent him from playing for six weeks.

Diallo’s loan move from United to Feyenoord was scuppered after he picked up an injury in training.

“Amad has sustained a thigh muscle injury in training and is likely to be out for six weeks,” Manchester United said in a statement.

“Unfortunately, this happened just before his planned loan move to Feyenoord. Amad will remain at United and rehabilitate back to full fitness.”

The player, who was also linked with a temporary switch to Championship side Sheffield United, could move on a temporary basis in the January transfer window instead.

“Yes, I do expect Amad to go out on loan. It’s not 100 per cent signed but we have agreed. I don’t have to say which team it is yet but we have found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about,” Solskjaer had earlier said.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international, who joined United from the Italian side Atalanta in January, has made eight appearances for the club, scoring one goal.

United will consider loan requests for Wales international Daniel James after initially telling clubs he would stay. Everton and Leeds United have asked to be kept informed of any developments.

Full-back Diogo Dalot is however expected to stay despite interest from Borussia Dortmund who had asked to take the Portuguese international on loan.
