Ravindra Jadeja is injured after India lost the Headingley Test vs England

India’s all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was injured after the team’s innings defeat by England on Day 4 of the Headingley test in Leeds on Saturday.

The cricketer posted a picture from the hospital on social media, although the nature of his injury remains unclear.

Jadeja has played all three Tests in the series so far with scores of 56, 40, 3, 4 and 30. The 32-year-old picked 2 wickets in the last match.

“Not a good place to be at,” Jadeja posted on his Instagram story.

India’s resistance on the penultimate day of the Headingley Test lasted less than a session as a five-wicket haul from Ollie Robinson handed England victory by an innings and 76 runs at Leeds on Saturday.

Much was expected from the Indian middle-order after their good show with the bat on Day 3 as Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli resumed the fight but it fizzled out sooner than expected under bright sunshine and good batting conditions.

Resuming on an overnight score of 215-2, the visitors crashed to 278 all out before lunch, with the Indian middle-order once again failing miserably against the pace and guile of the England fast bowlers.

Cheteshwar Pujara (91) was the first to be dismissed, shouldering arms to a Robinson in-swinger that was given out leg before wicket on review, before captain Virat Kohli (55) edged one to Joe Root soon after completing his half-century.

Ajinkya Rahane’s dismissal for 10 off James Anderson all but ended India’s hopes of overhauling the England lead, with Ravindra Jadeja’s late flourish of 30 offering some entertainment but eventually being in vain.

Robinson, who was named player of the match, finished with figures of 5-65, while Craig Overton chipped in with three wickets.
