Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United has agreed on the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo from Juventus, the Premier League club announced on Friday, while the transfer will be carried out subject to the agreement of personal conditions, a visa and a medical examination.

The Portuguese forward returns to the team where he won eight major trophies between 2003-2009. Financial details of the transfer were not disclosed but British and Italian media reported United signed Ronaldo for 25 million euros.

“Manchester United is delighted to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” announced United.

“Cristiano, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has so far won over 30 major trophies during his career, including five UEFA Champions League titles, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league titles in England, Spain and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal,” the release further stated.

Manchester City were offered the chance to sign Ronaldo and considered making a move but pulled out of negotiations on Friday.

Speaking ahead of Juve’s Serie A clash with Empoli this weekend, Allegri said Ronaldo had informed him on Thursday of his decision to leave the club.

“Yesterday Cristiano told me that he no longer plans to play for Juventus,” he told a news conference.

“This is why he will not be called up tomorrow. He did not train yesterday. He told his team mates this morning. I am not surprised at anything, in football there is the market and there are the needs of individuals.

“He made his choice. Life goes on.”

PERSONAL TERMS

Earlier, widespread reports in Italian and English media had claimed Ronaldo’s agent had already agreed to the player’s personal terms with City over a move, which would have been controversial given their rivalry with United.
