IND vs ENG, day 3: Pitch invader pretends to be Indian fielder, leaves Siraj, Jadeja amused

The Apitch invader caught everyone’s attention on Day 3 of the second test between India and England when he took to the field to join the Indian team after lunch and started ordering a pitch change at Lord’s.

After the resumption of play in the second session of the third day of the second Test, the local fan dubbed “Jarvo 69” made his way onto the pitch donning a Team India jersey. Indian players Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t help but laugh when the pitch invader walked casually at the Lord’s and started giving directions to Virat Kohli and his teammates.

“Some random chap in whites had made his way into the middle with the Indian players, and he stood there as if he was about to take part in the Test match,” England great Michael Atherton laughed on Sky Sports.

It took security a minute to realise what was actually happening and they eventually pounced on the man. England were 216/3 in their first innings at that point.

In the match, England captain Joe Root smashed an unbeaten 180 for his second hundred of the series to help his team eclipse India’s first innings total of 364 on day three of the second Test on Saturday.

England were all out for 391, taking a slender 27-run first-innings lead, riding Root’s majestic knock on an entertaining day of Test cricket at Lord’s.

The 30-year-old became the second English batsman after Alastair Cook to score 9000 Test runs. His 22nd Test hundred was studded with 18 fours.
