Ravindra Jadeja is grateful to Virat Kohli for improving fitness standards of Indian players

The star of the Indian all-around Ravindra Jadeja thanked the Indian skipper Virat Kohli for improving the level of physical fitness of the team.

Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja remains to be one of the best all-rounders in world cricket. In the last few years, Jadeja has also improved upon his batting and has excelled in all three formats of the game. But one of Jadeja’s biggest strengths is his fielding and it’s a treat to watch him on the field.

From taking tough catches to producing direct-hit run-outs from impossible angles, Jadeja has done it all. He also remains to be one of the fittest cricketers around.

Speaking to TimesofIndia.com, Jadeja said shared the secret behind him being one of the best fielders in world cricket.

“Yes, I am one of the best fielders in the world. But I don’t take anything for granted, I keep working on my game and my fitness. I do a lot of shoulder exercises and running for that, for instance. That’s how I maintain my fitness, which helps me on the field,” Jadeja says.

Team India is led by Virat Kohli – who has transformed himself through fitness and it has also rubbed upon his teammates as fitness is now an important parameter for selection in the Indian team.

Jadeja also credited Kohli for improving the fitness standards of the players as he said, “Virat definitely has been very enthusiastic, proactive, and fit. He believes a lot in fitness as well, so everyone has to raise their fielding standards. Everyone in the team has been working on their fitness, that’s why you can see the difference on the field now.”

Jadeja was included in the first Test against England ahead of Ravichandran Ashwin – who has been in sublime form for Team India in whites lately. The left-handed batsman played a crucial role for the team as he scored crucial 56 runs while batting lower down the order. India were in control of the proceedings in the first Test but the match ended in a draw after the fifth day was entirely washed away due to rain.
