The 2021 Durand Cup will be held in September-October in Kolkata

The Durand Cup, an annual nationwide football tournament organized by the Indian Armed Forces, will be held in September for the 130th time. Due to the Covind-19 pandemic, the third oldest competition in the world was canceled last season.

With the pandemic bringing normalcy to a grinding halt, only the Indian Super League, I-League, and I-League Qualifiers were held. The said tournaments were held in bio-secure environments with strict restrictions.

A statement from the Armed Forces said the Durand Cup, which is the oldest football tournament in Asia, will be held in and around Kolkata. The tournament will start in the beginning of September and will end by first week of October.

Several famous clubs are expected to compete in the 130th edition of the Durand Cup, according to local reports. Gokulam Kerala, Mohun Bagan, East Bengal, ATK reserves, and other clubs competed in the previous edition. The top Indian Super League teams have also been invited.

Durand Cup is the oldest tournament in Asia and the third oldest competition in the World. It was found in 1888 by Mortimer Durand. The tournament was usually played in Shimla but shifted to Delhi in 1940. It is hosted by the Indian Army and Durand Football Association. The most successful teams are SC East Bengal and Mohun Bagan with 16 titles each.
