Rohit Sharma became the first guest of Dinesh Kartik in his first interview

After taking up the position of commentator, Dinesh Kartik turned into an interviewer with Hitman Rahit Sharma as his first guest.

Dinesh Karthik has been making all the right noise as a commentator. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman, who last played for India during the 2019 ODI World Cup, was lauded by many for his stint as a commentator during the inaugural WTC final between India and New Zealand, in Southampton, in June 2021.

Karthik’s fresh take on the gentlemen’s game impressed many and has was retained by Sky Sports to be a part of the commentary panel in the ongoing The Hundred, in the United Kingdom. Now, the 36-year-old has turned into an interviewer for Sky Sports.

For DK’s debut as an interviewer, Hitman Rohit Sharma became his first-ever guest. The keeper-batsman shared a few behind-the-scenes form his chat with Hitman, which is yet to be released and can likely feature before the India-England Test series starting from August 4.

DK captioned a sweet post for Hitman and wrote on Instagram, “‘When he walked on the field for the first time representing India, I was there as the non-striker. For my first-ever interview as a broadcaster, he was there for me. “We spoke about Samaira, Ritika, his inner voice, moments when he cried and also many fun stories. Thanks Sham!”

For the unversed, it was DK on strike when Rohit Sharma had come out to bat for the first time for Team India in early 2007, shortly after the World Cup in the Caribbean island. Moreover, DK was also one of the contenders to take over as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain in mid-IPL 2013 after Ricky Ponting had stepped aside. In addition, DK’s Nidahas Trophy 2018 final heroics had also come under Rohit’s leadership.

Nonetheless, Rohit-DK have been a part of each other’s cricketing journey and it is safe to claim that the duo maintains a healthy and good camaraderie to date.

While DK remains in the UK as a commentator, Rohit will next be seen in India’s five-match Test series opener versus England, on August 4.
