There are people who will judge me: Nitish Rana published heartfelt note amid criticism over failure in Sri Lanka

Nitish Rana scored only 7, 9 and 6 points in his three outings in Sri Lanka. After India lost the T20I series 2-1 to Sri Lanka, Rana tweeted to express his disappointment.

The India tour of Sri Lanka was branded as an opportunity for some of the next-gen players to showcase how prepared they are for the step up into the national team. While there were a few cameos that pleased the Indian cricket team’s fans, there were some players who endured a hugely disappointing outing. Nitish Rana had was one of those who had the latter case.

Rana was a part of the Indian in the third and final ODI against Sri Lanka which was an inconsequential tie. He also played the second and the third T20Is after India’s squad was trimmed down to bare minimum because of Krunal Pandya’s Covid-positive report. The left-handed batsman, however, only scored 7, 9 and 6 runs respectively, leaving fans hugely disappointing.

Taking to Twitter after Team India’s 2-1 series defeat in the T20Is, Rana admitted that the tour of the island nation didn’t go as planned for him.

“Our social media isn’t just to post out victories but also our failures. This tour didn’t go the way I planned or expected it to go but I’ve learnt so much in my last 3 games.

“Since the time I’ve held the bat in my hands, I’ve always believed in hard work over luck and this won’t stop me. There are people who’ll say stuff and judge me but I won’t let anything tear me down because I know how much I’ve worked for it & I’ll keep moving forward & keep growing stronger and be back to win big for myself & my team”, the post read.
