Rafael Nadal joins Roger Federer in congratulating Novak Djokovic on Achieving a Grand Slam record

Rafael Nadal joined Roger Federer in congratulating Novak Djokovic on reaching their record of 20 Grand Slam titles.

Djokovic won his 20th major by defeating Matteo Berrettini in the Wimbledon final on Sunday.

Nadal said on Twitter that it was an “amazing achievement”. He added that “20 Grand Slam titles is huge and it is amazing that we are 3 players tied on this.”

Federer posted a tweet earlier saying Djokovic put up a “wonderful performance, well done!”

Djokovic paid tribute to Nadal and Federer during his interview in the post-match presentation ceremony.

“I have to pay a great tribute to Rafa and Roger. They are legends of our sport and the two most important players I faced in my career. They’re the reason I am where I am today. They have helped me realise what I need to do to grow stronger mentally and physically and tactically. When I broke into the top 10 for the first time, I lost for the 3-4 years most of the big matches I played against these two guys and then something changed in 2010 and 2011,” he said.

Djokovic has an opportunity to become only the 2nd man in Open Era after Rod Laver to win all 4 Grand Slams in a calendar year. Having won the Australian Open and the French Open before his success on Sunday in London, the Serb heads to New York as the firm favourite to win the US Open.

Djokovic did not shy away from making his goal clear to the rest of the tennis fraternity. “I could definitely envisage that happening and I hope I will give it a shot. I’m in great form and played well and having my best form at Grand Slams is my number one priority,” he added.
