Eoin Morgan congratulates Ben Stokes and England after beating Pakistan in the 2nd ODI: we are looking forward to the next game

England captain Eoin Morgan praised stand-in captain Ben Stokes and the team that managed to beat Pakistan by 52 runs in the 2nd ODI, despite the absence of almost all the regular stars of the team.

Seven of the original squad selected for the series tested positive for Covid-19, leading to the entire team going into quarantine and an entirely new squad being built with Stokes, who was not selected as he was still on the mend from a finger injury, called in as stand-in captain.

“15 of the current squad in isolation. (Jos) Buttler and (Jofra) Archer injured. What @benstokes38 and the team have achieved is incredible Looking forward to watching the next game!” Morgan tweeted.

England, who are the reigning world champions, beat Pakistan by 52 runs in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Pakistan fast bowler Hasan Ali took five wickets in the first innings as England were all out for 247 but Pakistan were blown away for 195. Lewis Gregory scored 40 runs and then took three wickets to lead the team to victory.
