Ronaldo vs Lukaku: the defender of the Italy Acerbi said that the striker of the Belgium is “more difficult” to mark than the captain of the Portugal

Italy national football team defender Francesco Acerbi said that Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku is “harder” to mark than Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo.

Even though Cristiano Ronaldo is a walking nightmare for any defender across all competitions of the beautiful game, Italian defender Francesco Acerbi feels the Portuguese goal machine is easier to mark than his tonight’s nemesis Romelu Lukaku. Ronaldo-led Portugal will square off against Lukaku-starrer Belgium in the Round of 16 phase of the ongoing UEFA Euro 2020 at the Estadio de La Cartuja on Tuesday.

In the battle of the forwards, Ronaldo and Lukaku will take centre stage at the Estadio de La Cartuja when Portugal take on Eden Hazard-led Belgium for a place in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Euro. The winner of the heavyweight clash between Portugal and Belgium will meet Italy in the quarter-final stage of the elite competition.

“Maybe Lukaku, because he’s a complete player, as well as Cristiano Ronaldo, who always scores. As a centre-forward, Lukaku is more difficult to mark because he has more physique, he has power and is a bit more of a striker. Cristiano Ronaldo is the classic forward, but he is more easier to mark than Lukaku,” Acerbi told.

Lukaku scored a crucial brace in Belgium’s comfortable win over Russia before the Inter Milan star extended his goal tally to three goals against Finland. Ronaldo on the other is the leading goalscorer at the UEFA Euro with five goals to his name from three matches.
