Our bowling unit was the best, especially for the teenagers: Cheteshwar Pujara from the Australian series

India’s renowned batsman Cheteshwar Pujara reserved special praise for the team’s bowlers and young players for the way they stepped up during the team’s stunning win over Australia in the 2020/21 test series.

Pujara called the fourth Test at the Gabba “one of the most memorable” ones he has been involved in. “Its one of the most memorable Test matches and series I have been part of. We had so many injuries and we were struggling as a team to get out best bowlers out,” Pujara said in a video uploaded by the International Cricket Council (ICC).

India lost the first Test, being dismissed for a record low score of 36 in their second innings, but then went on to win the second, draw the third and win the fourth again despite losing most of their key players to injury. Their win in the fourth Test was the first for any visiting team at the Gabba in 38 years.

“All the guys stood up, especially the youngsters, they were challenged and they were ready to take it up. We played as a team but I feel our bowling unit was remarkable,” said Pujara.

Pujara also said that he prefers not be playing cricket when not playing a series so as to stay fresh.

“One thing I have learnt recently is switching off is the most important part of the game sothat when you come back, you come back fresh. So, yes, I still like to hold my bat whenever possible but time off the from the game is also very important,” he said.
