Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi regrets ugly on-field spat with former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed

Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi seemed apologetic for his behaviour on the field after his heated exchange with Sarfaraz Ahmed in the Pakistan Super League 2021 on Tuesday.

Shaheen and Sarfaraz had a verbal fight during Match 23 between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators when a bouncer from the pacer hit the former Pakistan captain on his head.

Sarfaraz took a single after getting hit even as the umpire signalled a no-ball. That is when the two players exchanged a few angry words.

But Afridi regretted his actions later and said that he should have kept quiet out of respect for Sarfaraz.

“Saifi bhai is the pride of all of us. He was and will always remain a captain for me. Whatever happened in the game that day was heat of the moment.

“I should have stayed quiet in respect of him. I have always respected my seniors and pray and wish the best for @SarfarazA_54 bhai,” Afridi tweeted.

Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by 18 runs on Tuesday to register only their second win of the season out of 9 games.

Opener Jake Weatherald and Sarfaraz Ahmed top-scored for Quetta with 48 and 34 not out, respectively, while Azam Khan made 33 as Quetta posted 158 for 5 on the board after being put into bat first in Abu Dhabi.

James Faulkner continued his good form with the ball to bag 3 wickets for 25 runs from his 4 overs while Mohammad Hafeez and Rashid Khan took one wicket each.

Quetta then stepped up with the ball as Usman Shinwari and Khurram Shahzad picked up 3 wickets each to help bowl Lahore out for 140 in 18 overs. Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Hasnain took a couple of wickets each for Quetta.
