David Warner has praised Rahul Dravid for courting young Indian talent – he’s doing a fantastic job at the WTC finals

Australia opener David Warner believes former India captain Rahul Dravid must be credited for the role he has played in grooming the Indian youngsters during his stint as India A and India U-19 team coach. Warner was all praise when he talked about India’s bench strength and felt that they will be a force to reckon with in the future.

Highlighting the performances of Indian youngsters, Warner recalled India’s Test series win over Australia earlier this year. Captain Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Hanuma Vihari and Jasprit Bumrah got injured and subsequently ruled out at different junctures of the series due to injuries.

However, youngsters including some who were with the team as net bowlers thrashed Australia in their own den. Many of those were coached and mentored by legendary Rahul Dravid. Warner believes that these players can Team India to even greater heights.

“When you take the captain (Kohli) away, who is a world-class player and has a lot of runs on the board, and you’ve got this youth coming with energy and performing against us the way they did, I think they are going to be a force to be reckoned with,” Warner told India Today eSalaamCricket.

“The IPL has been a great platform and you have to give credit to Rahul Dravid. It seems like he is doing a fantastic job through the pathway system to get these players ready for international cricket.

“It showed when they came to play us here. In future India is going to be a very formidable side in Test cricket as they are now,” Warner signed off.
