Virat Kohli leads India in Group 1 Training Session of WTC Final against New Zealand

India’s cricket team, led by Virat Kohli, has started its first training session at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton ahead of the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, which starts on June 18. The team, led by Virat Kohli, landed in England on June 3 and served a three-day mandatory quarantine before embarking on training and drills.

BCCI tweeted the training video with the caption, “We have had our first group training session and the intensity was high. #TeamIndia’s preparations are in full swing for the #WTC21 Final.”

In the video, the Kohli-led side seems to have ticked all the boxes with players sweating it out on the field honing each and every skill required to be in the top-notch form before taking the field on June 18. Captain Kohli and opener Rohit Sharma get going in the nets while Ravichandran Ashwin rolls his arm over as well.

The one-minute 12-second long clip featured every India star with the fast bowlers seen bowling at full tilt. Team India also took part in fielding drills on Wednesday, with Shubman Gill’s slip-catching practice effort praised by others as well.

New Zealand team is already in the UK for their bilateral series against England and the team will transition from the ECB bio-secure environment into the WTC Final bubble on June 15 and will be subject to regular testing prior to and post-arrival in Southampton.

India play five Tests against England following the WTC final while the women play a one-off Test, three ODIs and as many T20 Internationals against the home team starting June 16.
